Rocket Lab's stock soars as traders bet on short-term strategies

Rocket Lab Corp. (RKT), a Los Angeles-based aerospace company, has seen its stock climb steadily over the past two years. With space travel gaining attention in 2023—partly due to SpaceX’s upcoming IPO—the firm’s performance has drawn interest from traders using specific technical strategies. The company operates a launch site in New Zealand and has become a focus for traders employing short-term methods. One such approach is the opening-range high, where an entry is considered valid if the stock price breaks above the high of the first 5-minute candle after the market opens.

Another strategy used is the **high-tight pivot**. This pattern triggers an entry when the price stabilises at a moving average on the 5-minute chart, following a sharp rally and minor pullback. The author has applied both techniques when trading Rocket Lab shares. At the time of writing, the author holds a long position in RKT.

Rocket Lab’s upward momentum aligns with broader interest in the aerospace sector. The stock’s recent performance has made it a candidate for short-term trading strategies, including the opening-range high and high-tight pivot methods. The company’s position in the industry remains notable as space-related investments continue to grow.
