MHADA's 200-acre Mumbai redevelopment attracts top real estate bidders

The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has launched a major push to redevelop key areas of Mumbai. Three high-profile projects covering over 200 acres have attracted bids from some of India’s top real estate firms. The plans aim to upgrade living conditions for thousands of residents through modern infrastructure and better amenities. On April 8, 2026, MHADA invited tenders for cluster redevelopment projects at Adarsh Nagar-Worli (34.33 acres), Bandra Reclamation (98.27 acres), and SVP Nagar, Andheri (West) (73.89 acres). These form part of 11 larger initiatives spanning nearly 925 acres across Mumbai, set to benefit around 80,747 people.

The technical bids for selecting Construction and Development Agencies (C&DA) were opened on May 20, 2026. Leading firms submitted proposals for each site. Adani Properties Private Limited, Lodha Developers Limited, and JSW Realty & Infrastructure Private Limited competed for both the Adarsh Nagar-Worli and Bandra Reclamation projects. Meanwhile, Reliance 4IR Realty Development Limited, Adani Properties, and Hanura Realty Private Limited bid for the SVP Nagar, Andheri (West) site.

MHADA will now assess the technical bids based on criteria like past experience, financial strength, and eligibility. Once this stage is complete, the financial bids of shortlisted developers will be reviewed. The most competitive offer will secure the contract for each project.

The redevelopment schemes promise world-class facilities, improved urban planning, and modern infrastructure. Residents in these clusters can expect better housing conditions and upgraded public spaces upon completion. The selection process will move forward after technical evaluations are finalised. Winning developers will then begin work on transforming these key Mumbai neighbourhoods. The projects mark a significant step in MHADA’s broader plan to revitalise housing and infrastructure across the city.
