In a significant development for the energy sector in Bodenwöhr, Germany, Bayernwerk Netz GmbH has been awarded a 22-year concession to operate the town's electricity and gas networks. The concession agreement was signed by Georg Hoffmann (Mayor of Bodenwöhr), André Zorger (Head of Municipal Management East Bavaria at Bayernwerk), Wolfgang Dumm (Municipal Manager), and Daniel Liegl (Head of the Bayernwerk Customer Center in Schwandorf).

The concession period, commencing on an unspecified date, will see Bayernwerk assuming responsibility for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and development of the electricity and gas networks in Bodenwöhr. This includes ensuring reliable and efficient delivery of energy to consumers, performing regular maintenance and necessary upgrades, facilitating new connections, and adhering to strict safety standards and regulatory frameworks.

Bayernwerk will also be responsible for managing metering services, integrating renewable energy sources into the network, and serving as the local network operator who interfaces with customers. The 22-year period likely comes from a long-term concession or contract granted by the local municipality or regulatory authority, which sets these responsibilities within a defined timeframe.

The concession agreement follows a competitive tender process, with Bayernwerk emerging as the successful bidder until the year 2047. The terms of the agreement have been finalized, but it does not specify any penalties or fines for Bayernwerk in the event of non-compliance.

Mayor Georg Hoffmann expressed his confidence in Bayernwerk's ability to manage the town's energy infrastructure, stating, "We are pleased to have Bayernwerk on board to ensure the effective and sustainable operation of our electricity and gas networks."

With this concession, Bayernwerk Netz GmbH will act as the distribution system operator (DSO) in Bodenwöhr, ensuring the local energy infrastructure functions efficiently and meets the growing demands of the town's residents and businesses. The Mayor and Municipal Manager of Bodenwöhr, along with the Head of Municipal Management East Bavaria at Bayernwerk and the Head of the Bayernwerk Customer Center in Schwandorf, look forward to a successful partnership.

The concession agreement with Bayernwerk Netz GmbH, extending until 2047, positions them as the distribution system operator (DSO) in Bodenwöhr. This responsibility encompasses various aspects of the energy sector, including finance, industry, and energy management.

Bayernwerk's duties during the 22-year concession period encompass managing metering services, integrating renewable energy sources, and maintaining the electrical and gas networks for the efficient and reliable delivery of energy, thereby contributing to the financial growth and sustainable development of the town.
