Magadan Region launches five-month Water of Russia cleanup campaign

The Magadan Region will host the Water of Russia campaign from 1 May to 30 September 2026. The initiative aims to clean up local waterways while encouraging public involvement in environmental protection. Authorities have invited businesses, schools, and volunteer groups to take part in the effort. The campaign focuses on preserving the region’s rivers, lakes, and coastal zones. Activities will include litter removal, pollution control, and educational events to promote responsible water use. Organisers hope to raise awareness among residents and workplaces about the importance of safeguarding natural resources.

To participate, groups must apply to the Magadan Regional Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment. Applications should specify the event’s location, date, and expected number of volunteers. Once approved, organisations will independently carry out cleanups, supplying equipment and following safety regulations. After the campaign, participants must submit documentation to the ministry. This includes before-and-after photos, videos, and basic statistics summarising the work done. The results will be compiled into a regional report and presented at the federal level.

The Water of Russia campaign will run for five months, targeting pollution and environmental education. Successful events will be recorded and shared with national authorities. Organisers expect the initiative to strengthen local efforts in protecting the region’s water bodies.
