Kazakhstan tightens taxi rules to combat illegal operators and boost safety
Kazakhstan’s Ministry of National Economy has updated the rules for taxi operators. The changes require companies to submit detailed vehicle information before starting services. Officials believe this will help curb illegal activity in the sector. Under the old system, taxi providers were not tied to specific vehicles. This made it hard to pinpoint who was responsible in accidents or safety incidents. The new rules now force operators to notify local authorities before launching services.
The updated notification form includes key details about each vehicle. This covers the make, license plate number, and year of manufacture. Operators can also update the form when changing their fleet. The ministry’s goal is to improve passenger safety by quickly identifying responsible parties. Authorities also expect the changes to shrink the illegal taxi market’s share.
Taxi companies must now register their vehicles before operating. The stricter notification process aims to hold providers accountable. Officials hope this will lead to a safer and more regulated transport system.
