Spirit Airlines shuts down, ending loyalty rewards for good
Spirit Airlines has shut down its operations, marking the end of its loyalty programme features. The airline ceased flying on 2 May 2026, leading to the closure of services like the Free Spirit Online Mall. Customers also lost access to its co-branded credit cards, which stopped accepting new applications. The Free Spirit Online Mall once allowed members to earn points by shopping at over 450 retailers. Users logged in with their Free Spirit account and received bonus points within 24 hours of purchase approval. Alongside point rewards, the platform offered discount vouchers and featured well-known brands on its homepage.
Spirit previously offered two credit cards to boost loyalty earnings. The Free Spirit® Travel Mastercard® gave 2x points on Spirit purchases and 1x point on all other spending. The Free Spirit® Travel More World Elite Mastercard® provided higher rewards, with 3x points on Spirit purchases, 2x points at restaurants and grocery stores, and 1x point elsewhere. Both cards are no longer available to new applicants. With the airline’s closure, the Free Spirit Online Mall has now been discontinued. Members can no longer access the shopping portal or earn points through it.
The end of Spirit Airlines has removed multiple ways for customers to earn Free Spirit points. The shutdown of the Online Mall and the withdrawal of credit card options leave former members with fewer rewards opportunities. All related services have now stopped permanently.
