Russia's forum in Birobidzhan aims to lure young talent into construction careers

The Russian Ministry of Construction recently hosted the Young Specialist—Builder of the Future forum in Birobidzhan. Organised with support from the Jewish Autonomous Oblast (JAO), the event aimed to attract young professionals to the construction industry. Speakers included federal officials, regional experts, and leading employers in the sector. JAO Governor Maria Kostyuk opened the forum by stressing the importance of construction in regional growth. The event focused on boosting the appeal of careers in building, planning, and architecture. Topics ranged from urban development to the role of student construction teams and modern branding in the industry.

Anna Fedorova, head of JAO’s Department of Construction and Housing, highlighted the sector’s strong salaries and innovative projects. Alexander Lomakin, First Deputy Minister of Construction, noted that the JAO had already surpassed its 2025 housing targets by 35%. Interactive sessions gave young professionals the chance to meet with major regional employers. The discussions were part of a wider push to raise the status of construction and architecture jobs across Russia.

The forum brought together federal and regional leaders to address workforce challenges in construction. By showcasing career opportunities and industry achievements, the event sought to inspire the next generation of builders. Organisers plan to continue similar initiatives to support the sector’s growth.
