Passengers commend increased seat availability in Nordhausen, according to the travelers' association.

In a move to improve service frequency and accommodate rising passenger demand, 11 trains on the Nordhausen-Northeim route are now formed from two diesel multiple units of the Alstom Lint series 648. This timetable change, effective from the weekend, offers double capacity, with each train providing 260 seats instead of the original 130.

Gerd Aschoff, Chairman of Pro Bahn South Lower Saxony, has expressed his pleasure with the additional diesel multiple units in South Lower Saxony. The increased capacity is expected to provide a better travel experience for passengers, particularly on the route from Nordhausen to Northeim, where many have been traveling with double capacity due to a small timetable change.

This change does not affect the routes from Saturday to Sunday and is part of Deutsche Bahn's broader strategy to promote public transport by offering more capacity and reliability. From Monday to Friday, 13 trains are doubled from Göttingen, some extending to Northeim, Kreiensen, and even Bad Harzburg or Nordhausen.

The Germany Ticket and VSN Five-Euro Ticket have led to overcrowding in some regional trains, including those on the Nordhausen-Northeim route. Overcrowding worsened on main travel days and when Metronom trains between Göttingen and Hannover broke down.

Deutsche Bahn has been deploying double diesel multiple unit sets on over 20 routes since June 15, a response to the increasing demand for public transport and the need to reduce overcrowding during peak times. However, for precise and up-to-date details specific to the Nordhausen-Northeim route, including official statements from Deutsche Bahn, you may need to consult Deutsche Bahn press releases, local transport authorities, or regional news sources.

It's worth noting that the Regionalbahn 82 from Göttingen to Bad Harzburg and RB 80 from Göttingen to Nordhausen have been found to be too short to accommodate passengers, which is another reason for the timetable change. Additionally, new holiday homes are planned in the Nordhausen district, catering to tourists, which may further increase passenger demand on the route.

Subscribing to the Nordhausen Newsletter implies agreement to the advertising agreement, and the timetable change has not been mentioned in the Nordhausen Newsletter's advertising agreement. The fiber optic expansion in the Nordhausen district, while not directly related to the train service, has ended in chaos, which may have indirectly contributed to the need for improved public transport infrastructure.

The increased deployment of double diesel multiple unit sets on overcrowded routes, such as the Nordhausen-Northeim, is a strategic move by Deutsche Bahn to enhance public transit and provide further capacity in the finance and transportation industry. This strategy also aims to accommodate the rising passenger demand, as observed in regions with growing tourist attractions like the Nordhausen district.
