Minnesota Man Charged After Brutal Hammer Attack on Wife Thwarted by Amazon Driver
A 72-year-old man from Minnesota has been charged with attempting to murder his wife in a violent hammer attack. The incident took place in Wyoming, Minnesota, before an Amazon delivery driver stepped in to stop it. Police reports reveal the victim fought back by kicking her husband in the crotch.
The attack began when the man allegedly struck his wife in the head with a hammer, leaving two deep, bloody wounds. His plan, according to investigators, was to knock her unconscious before inflicting fatal injuries. The motive appears linked to financial struggles—he reportedly did not want her to rely on reduced Social Security benefits.
An Amazon delivery driver witnessed the assault and immediately intervened, halting the attack. The driver then alerted the police, who arrived to find the woman injured but conscious. She later told officers she had kicked her husband in self-defence. The suspect, who serves as general manager of a business facing financial difficulties, now faces charges of first-degree attempted murder and second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.
The victim survived the attack and provided her account to authorities. Her husband remains in custody, awaiting trial on serious charges. The intervention of the delivery driver prevented what could have been a fatal outcome.
