Malaysia's 10 digital projects vie for global WSIS Prizes 2026

Ten digital initiatives led by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) have been shortlisted for the WSIS Prizes 2026. These projects will compete against entries from 194 member countries of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). Voting remains open until May 13, 2026. The shortlisted projects span 18 different categories. Among them, the Asean 5G Skills Framework and Capacity Development Platform is recognised in Category AL C1. Another key entry, the Communications & Infrastructure Disaster Recovery (CIDR) Plan, appears in Category AL C5.

In the field of agriculture, two MCMC projects made the list. **AgriNXT: Oil Palm Chapter (OPC)** and **AGRINXT Northern Chapter: Empowering Malaysian Livestock Farmers With AI-Based Cattle Weight Estimation** both feature in Category AL C7 for E-agriculture. The **Human-Centred Digital Governance Through MCMC’s Five-Year Plan 2030** is shortlisted in Category AL C6. The **Sebenarnya.my portal**, a media-focused initiative, has also been selected in Category AL C9.

These ten projects highlight MCMC’s efforts in digital innovation across multiple sectors. The final results will depend on public voting, which closes on May 13, 2026. Winners will be announced following the evaluation of entries from around the world.
