Introducing CDI Innovative Construction Materials' Lewis Deck and HODY Steel-Concrete Composite Floor Systems
CDI Innovative Construction Materials has introduced two advanced flooring solutions that combine steel and concrete to optimize structural performance and construction efficiency: the Lewis Deck system and the HODY steel-concrete composite floor.
Key Features and Benefits
- Steel-Concrete Composite Action: Both systems create a composite slab where the steel deck works integrally with a concrete topping. This synergy improves load-bearing capacity and stiffness while reducing material usage.
- Structural Efficiency: These systems enhance floor strength and reduce overall floor thickness and weight compared to traditional concrete slabs, leading to savings in building height and foundation costs.
- Speed and Ease of Installation: The Lewis Deck and HODY systems provide formwork and permanent reinforcement in one, allowing faster concrete placement and reducing construction time.
- Cost-Effectiveness: By minimizing steel reinforcement and concrete volume and enabling quicker construction cycles, these floor systems deliver economic advantages.
- Durability and Safety: Composite floors improve fire resistance, sound insulation, and durability, meeting modern building codes and occupant comfort standards.
- Versatility: Suitable for various building types including commercial, industrial, and residential projects, they offer flexible design options for architects and engineers.
The Lewis Deck System
The Lewis Deck system by CDI-ICM is a joisted floor system, providing first-class solutions for acoustics and fire protection. It offers simple and easy installation, fire ratings up to 120 minutes, and compatibility with new builds, renovations, and conversions. The overall thickness of the Lewis Deck system is generally 50mm, but ranges from 36mm to 75mm. It works efficiently with screeded underfloor heating and cooling systems and provides high-performance acoustic floors, underfloor heating in suspended floors (52mm thick), floors on any type of beam or joist, high load-bearing capacity, and low dead loads.
The HODY Steel-Concrete Composite Floor
The HODY steel-concrete composite floor is a strong, fire-resistant, sound-insulating, lightweight composite concrete floor. It is made from a trapezium profiled steel sheet and a minimum layer of C20/25 quality concrete. The system can span joists up to 2.5m centre to centre or be laid directly on existing floors. It is suitable for liquid screeds and fine grade concrete, and can be used with ceramic or stone tiles. The HODY steel-concrete composite floor can be provided with a polyester or PVDF coating in RAL colour, depending on availability. The production facility for the HODY steel-concrete composite floor is ISO9001 certified, and the flooring system is fully tested and carries a number of certifications. More information about the certifications can be found on the support section of the CDI Innovative Construction Materials website.
