Hünfeld's volunteer groups get 2026 tax updates at Locomotive Shed event
Hünfeld recently hosted its fifth volunteer information evening at the town’s Locomotive Shed. The event drew local club members and organisers for an update on tax rules and nonprofit management. Speakers covered key changes affecting associations in 2026. Sandra Oechler, a qualified tax advisor, led a 90-minute talk on nonprofit accounting. She stressed the need for clubs to follow their official purposes and avoid mixing ideological work with economic activities. A key point was the tax threshold: commercial operations in clubs now face taxation only if annual revenue tops €50,000.
Julia Schröder from Fulda district introduced the Treffpunkt Aktiv initiative. She also outlined the district’s volunteer support services available to local groups. Oechler later explained updates to tax exemptions, including a rise in the volunteer flat-rate allowance to €960 per year. The tax-free training instructor allowance also increased to €3,300 annually from January 1, 2026. The evening wrapped up with sausages, cold drinks, and informal networking. Attendees discussed the changes and shared experiences from their own organisations.
The event provided clear guidance on tax rules for nonprofits. Clubs now have updated figures for exemptions and revenue limits to apply in 2026. Organisers left with practical advice on keeping their accounting compliant and efficient.
