Dangote Refinery Plans $2B IPO to Fuel Africa's Largest Industrial Project

Dangote Group is preparing to list around 10% of its oil refining company on African stock exchanges. The move aims to raise funds for further expansion and attract a broad range of investors. The refinery, once fully operational, is set to become one of the largest industrial assets in the world. The Dangote Refinery has already drawn significant interest from investors. Aliko Dangote revealed that the company received nearly $2 billion in requests for its planned private placement—far exceeding the intended size. Advisers are now assessing the best valuation and pricing structure for the upcoming initial public offering (IPO).

The refinery is expected to generate one of the highest corporate turnovers in Africa. Its capacity will account for roughly 10% of the refining output of the United States. To ensure wider participation, the public offering will be structured to include ordinary Nigerians and smaller retail investors. With institutional and private investors showing strong interest, the company aims to enter the market by September. The refinery’s scale and economic potential have reinforced confidence among global and local backers.

The planned IPO will help fund the refinery’s growth while offering investment opportunities to a diverse group of shareholders. Once operational, the facility is projected to play a major role in Africa’s energy sector. The listing will also mark a key milestone in the continent’s industrial development.
