Classic Valentine's Day Gifts Significantly More Expensive Than in 2025 - Valentine's Day costs surge in 2025 as chocolates and flowers hit record prices

Valentine's Day gifts in Germany have become noticeably more expensive. Prices for chocolates, flowers, and dining out rose sharply in 2025 compared to the previous year. The increases also mark a steep climb over the past five years.

Chocolates saw the biggest jump in cost. In 2025, they were 17.8% pricier than in 2024. Since 2020, the price has surged by 42%.

Cut flowers also became more expensive. Their price went up by 5.3% from 2024 to 2025. Over the long term, they now cost 38% more than in 2020.

Eating out followed the same trend. Restaurant, café, and bar prices increased by 3.6% between 2024 and 2025. Compared to 2020, these services are now nearly 32% dearer.

The latest figures show a clear pattern of rising costs for classic Valentine's Day treats. Chocolates, flowers, and meals out have all become significantly more expensive in recent years. Consumers will now pay far more for these items than they did in 2020.
