Comboios de Portugal Announces No Changes to Douro Line Services

In a recent statement, Comboios de Portugal (CP) has confirmed that there will be no changes to commercial train service on the Douro Line, specifically between Marco de Canaveses and Régua [1][2]. This reassurance comes despite the return of some UTD 592 series railcars to Renfe due to reaching contractual usage limits.

The return of these railcars will not result in any train cancellations on the Douro Line. CP has emphasised that it regularly adjusts the allocation of its rolling stock to better serve customer mobility needs.

The ongoing electrification of some lines in the country will occur, and this electrification, along with the arrival of new trains, will affect the Douro Line. However, CP has concluded that these developments will allow the reallocation of diesel units to the Douro Line, maintaining current service levels.

The Douro Line will indeed receive reallocated diesel units, ensuring the continuity of services. CP has also clarified that the return of UTD 592 series railcars to Renfe is not indicative of any broader changes to the Douro Line's operations.

It's worth noting that the electrification of certain lines in the country is part of CP's ongoing strategy to modernise and improve its services. This modernisation includes the arrival of new trains, which will further enhance the passenger experience.

In conclusion, passengers travelling on the Douro Line between Marco de Canaveses and Régua can expect no changes to their services, despite the return of some railcars and the ongoing electrification projects. CP remains committed to ensuring the best possible travel experience for its customers.

Portugal's Comboios de Portugal (CP) has confirmed that the return of UTD 592 series railcars to Renfe won't affect the finance aspect of the Douro Line, as the company will reallocate diesel units from other projects to maintain current-industry service levels. Meanwhile, the ongoing transport-related modernisation in Portugal, including electrification of some lines and the arrival of new trains, will ultimately improve the public-transit experience for passengers traveling on the Douro Line.
