Pippa Middleton and James Matthews sell Bucklebury Farm after years of losses
Pippa Middleton and James Matthews have sold Bucklebury Farm for £1.3 million after years of financial struggles. The couple originally bought the 72-acre property in 2021, hoping to transform it into a profitable business and family attraction. The farm faced ongoing financial difficulties, with losses reaching six figures annually. By 2025, debts had climbed to £807,543. In an attempt to boost revenue, the couple proposed building a nursery for 25 children on the site. However, the local council rejected the application, citing concerns over traffic congestion raised by the highways authority.
Visitors had also criticised the farm’s zoo for its high ticket prices since the Middletons took over. Some locals described the venture as a 'snooty cash grab' and expressed disappointment over changes to the farm’s atmosphere.
The sale marks the end of the couple’s involvement with Bucklebury Farm. They no longer have any ownership or connection to the property. The farm’s financial troubles and failed expansion plans led to its eventual sale. With debts mounting and local opposition to their proposals, the Middletons have now fully withdrawn from the project. The new owner will take over the site following the £1.3 million transaction.
