The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has announced significant enhancements to the Ras Al Khor area as part of its ongoing efforts to improve road efficiency and accommodate the city's rapid urban growth.
One of the key projects, set to open in early August 2025, is a new exit from the collector road connecting Financial Centre Street to Ras Al Khor Road near the Bu Kadra Interchange. This new exit is designed to facilitate smoother access to Dubai-Al Ain Road and ease pressure on the Bu Kadra Interchange. The new exit is expected to reduce peak-hour travel time by 54%, cutting it from 13 minutes to 6 minutes for vehicles traveling towards Ras Al Khor Road and Dubai–Al Ain Road.
In addition to the new exit, the RTA has expanded Exit 25 on Ras Al Khor Road towards Al Khail Road and Al Meydan Street. The 500-meter stretch, previously accommodating one lane of traffic, has been widened to two lanes, effectively doubling its capacity to handle up to 3,000 vehicles per hour. This expansion has led to shorter traffic queues and a reduction in peak travel time from 7 minutes to 4 minutes at this interchange.
These projects form crucial components of the RTA's Rapid Traffic Solutions Plan, which aims to boost road network efficiency and ease congestion in high-traffic zones. The plan is a strategic response to Dubai's urban growth, designed to optimise traffic flow and accommodate the city's continued development.
These enhancements in the Ras Al Khor area are a testament to the RTA's commitment to improving infrastructure in Dubai and ensuring that the city's transportation system keeps pace with its growth. As the city continues to evolve, the RTA will undoubtedly continue to implement innovative solutions to maintain and improve its road network.
