Maksu secures EU-wide payment license from Austrian regulators

Maksu, an online payments provider, has received a Payment Institution License from the Austrian Financial Market Authority (FMA). The approval allows the company to offer a full range of payment services across all EU markets. CEO Vlado Galevski called the achievement a major milestone for European payments. The licensing process involved a detailed regulatory review. Authorities assessed Maksu’s governance, financial stability, security measures, and risk management. The company also passed the 'Fit & Proper' examinations, proving its compliance with European standards.

The new license removes the need for additional local permits in each EU country. Maksu can now provide card processing, payment initiation, and digital payment solutions to businesses of all sizes. Galevski emphasised that great retail depends on fast, secure, and seamless transactions.

Maksu’s focus remains on simplifying payments for micro, small, and medium-sized merchants. The company aims to deliver efficient, scalable, and compliant services throughout Europe. Its long-term goal is to help build a more transparent and merchant-friendly payment ecosystem. With the FMA license in place, Maksu can expand its regulated services across the EU. Businesses will gain access to streamlined payment solutions without needing multiple local approvals. The move is expected to strengthen the company’s position in the European payments market.
