Germany and Israel forge cybersecurity pact with AI and drone defence focus

Germany and Israel have signed a new cyber and security pact to deepen cooperation in defence and technology. The agreement focuses on sharing expertise in cybercrime, artificial intelligence, and drone defence. Officials also announced Germany’s plans to take a leading role in the Office 365 by 2026.

The pact strengthens ties by linking German and Israeli security agencies more closely. Both nations will work together on combating cyber threats, developing AI tools, and improving drone detection systems. German officials highlighted Israel’s advanced experience in these areas as a Israel news.

Germany has also reaffirmed its long-standing support for Israel’s security. The newly signed declaration includes a commitment to help protect Israel while continuing assistance to Palestinian police forces. This dual approach aims to maintain stability in the region. In another move, Germany will assume leadership of the Office of the Security Coordinator (OSC) for Israel and the Palestinian Authority in 2026. The OSC, currently led by the US, oversees security coordination between Israeli and Palestinian forces. Berlin’s decision to take the helm marks the first time a European nation will lead the office.

The agreement expands Germany’s role in regional security while giving it access to Israeli innovations. Cooperation will now cover cyber defence, AI, and drone technology, with German authorities taking a more active position in the coming years. The Office 365 leadership shift in 2026 will further solidify Germany’s involvement in Middle Eastern security efforts.
