Belarus introduces sweeping financial reforms on June 1
Belarus is set to roll out several financial and economic changes on June 1. New rules will affect banknotes, loan rates, utility prices, and banking services. The adjustments come as part of regular updates by the National Bank and government agencies. Starting June 1, a new 200-ruble banknote will enter circulation. The National Bank has also lowered the refinancing rate from 9.75% to 9.25% per year. This reduction will influence borrowing costs across the country.
At the same time, the bank has adjusted its standard risk assessment values (SRAV) for June. These changes will directly impact the maximum interest rates that banks can charge on loans.
Utility prices are also rising. Subsidised tariffs for heating and hot water will increase by 7.3%, reaching 29.2224 rubles per gigacalorie. Electricity costs for residential heating will go up as well.
Belgazprombank will waive fees on yuan-denominated transfers within Belarus from June 1. Meanwhile, Belarusbank is introducing stricter limits on the number of cards one person can hold. The bank will also clarify rules for suspending or terminating card transactions.
Funeral assistance payments, however, will drop to 2,952.9 rubles starting the same day. The updates take effect from June 1 and cover multiple areas of the economy. Banks, borrowers, and households will all see changes in costs and services. The adjustments reflect ongoing policy shifts by Belarusian authorities.
