Yakutsk's unsafe housing crisis eases as 700+ residents find new homes
RIA Joint-Stock Company has made steady progress in relocating residents from unsafe housing in Yakutsk. Over the past three years, hundreds of families have moved into new homes or received financial support as part of the company's redevelopment projects. The latest figures show significant improvements in living conditions across the city.
Since 2022, RIA's Comprehensive Territory Development (CTD) projects have helped 711 people. Of these, 550 residents—214 families—moved into new apartments, while 161 others received cash payments. Nearly 11,000 square meters of old housing were cleared in the process.
In 2025 alone, the company relocated over 400 people from dilapidated buildings. Among them, 321 individuals from 113 families settled into new flats in the Zvezdny microdistrict. Another 82 residents, representing 58 families, chose financial compensation instead. That same year, more than 5,000 square meters of uninhabitable housing in Yakutsk were vacated. RIA's CEO, Liya Shainurova, credited the smooth relocations to teamwork with utility providers and the republic's government. Looking ahead, the company plans to expand its efforts. Work is already underway on 17 buildings in Block 2B of the Sportivny microdistrict, with further scaling expected in the coming year.
The redevelopment projects have already provided safer housing for hundreds of families. With ongoing construction in Sportivny and continued collaboration with local authorities, RIA aims to accelerate its efforts. More residents will likely benefit from new homes or compensation in the near future.
