Yakutsk's Free Smoke Detectors Boost Fire Safety for Large Families
A new social initiative in Yakutsk is offering free smoke detectors to large families. The Union Housing Company (UK Union) has launched the programme to improve fire safety in its managed buildings. Families meeting the criteria can now collect the devices at no cost. The company is focusing on large families, as they face higher risks in emergencies. To qualify, applicants must live in a UK Union-managed property and provide proof of their large-family status. The required documents include residency confirmation and official large-family certification.
The autonomous smoke alarms are designed to detect fires early. Once installed, they emit a loud signal at the first sign of smoke. The company emphasises that setup is straightforward, with no technical skills needed, and staff are available to guide residents. Yuri Radyukov, director of UK Union, stated that safety remains a top priority. He explained that the initiative reflects their commitment to fire prevention, particularly for vulnerable households. While installation is voluntary, the company is encouraging all eligible families to take advantage of the offer. Interested families can visit the UK Union office at 46 Lenin Avenue to receive their free device.
The programme aims to reduce fire-related risks for large families in Yakutsk. By providing free, easy-to-install alarms, UK Union hopes to prevent emergencies before they escalate. Residents can collect the detectors now by presenting the necessary documents at the company's office.
