Yakutia Tourism Council Meets to Boost Visitor Numbers, Plans for 2024

The Coordination Council for Tourism under the Government of Yakutia recently held a zoom meeting to discuss the development of the tourism industry. Participants had the chance to ask questions and propose improvements. The event was marked by several notable developments and achievements.

The zoom meeting began with a welcoming speech by Chairman Anatoly Semyonov, who highlighted the successful development of the tourism industry in Yakutia and the need to identify the profile of a potential tourist to boost visitor numbers. Over 60 tourism events were held in Yakutia in 2023, including 11 TV stories about the republic and over 30 events in its districts.

Minister of Entrepreneurship, Trade and Tourism Timur Khandy presented the main results of tourism industry development in Yakutia in 2023 and plans for the 1st half of 2024. Tatyana Tymyrnova, Chairman of the National Association of Restaurateurs and Hoteliers, also presented a report on the implementation of unified standards of the hospitality industry in Yakutia.

In 2024, declared the Year of Childhood in Yakutia, the development of children's tourism will be a main task. An interdepartmental working group has been formed to implement projects in this area. Vera Yakutova developed a group for the implementation of projects in children's vacations during the zoom meeting. Over 240 million rubles in federal funds were attracted to Yakutia for tourism development from 2022 to 2024.

Gratitude letters were awarded to individuals and organizations for their significant contribution to the development and promotion of tourism in Yakutia. On behalf of the Chairman of the Government, several employees of the Agency for the Development of Tourism and Territorial Marketing were awarded for their work in 2023. The zoom meeting ended with a commitment to continue working together to further improve the tourism industry in Yakutia.
