Yakutia Proposes VAT Exemptions to Support Female Entrepreneurs in Beauty Industry

A new proposal in Yakutia could ease tax burdens for women running businesses. Gavriil Parakhin, a member of the regional parliament, has called for VAT exemptions to support female entrepreneurs. The move follows concerns about balancing work and family life in a sector where women dominate. Parakhin highlighted the growing number of women leading businesses in Yakutia. He pointed out that many struggle to manage family duties alongside their work. His plan focuses on removing VAT for women in the beauty industry until 2028.

Albina Kychkina, the region's business ombudsman, recognised the need for action. She agreed to review the VAT exemption proposal but noted existing tax incentives for social entrepreneurship, a field where women are already well represented. However, no official figures for 2023 show how many women are registered as self-employed or entrepreneurs in Yakutia. Kychkina stressed that current policies already offer some relief. Yet Parakhin insisted on more targeted measures to help women sustain their businesses while caring for families.

The proposal now awaits further review by regional authorities. If approved, the VAT exemption could provide financial relief for women in Yakutia's beauty sector. Officials will assess whether the change aligns with existing support for social entrepreneurs.
