Xpeng hits one million EVs with global expansion and autonomous ambitions

Chinese electric vehicle maker Xpeng has reached a major milestone by producing its one millionth car. The company, known for its tech-driven approach, marked the occasion with the delivery of an X9 people mover to a customer. This achievement comes as Xpeng expands globally, including a recent launch in Australia last year.

The one millionth vehicle, an X9, was handed over by CEO and founder He Xiaopeng alongside president Dr Brian Gu. The company’s growth has been rapid, with the Mona M03 electric sedan playing a key role—over 200,000 units have already been built.

Xpeng first entered the Australian market in 2023, introducing models like the G6 electric SUV. The vehicle has since gained traction, with nearly 2,000 units sold through local distributor True EV. Looking ahead, the company plans to launch an SUV version of the Mona M03 next year, further expanding its affordable EV range.

Beyond Australia, Xpeng has announced plans to enter North America, Japan, and South Korea in the coming years. The brand also aims to accelerate production, potentially reaching the next million vehicles in just two years. Autonomous driving remains a priority, with three fully autonomous Level 4 Robotaxi models set for release in 2025.

Xpeng’s one millionth EV signals its growing influence in the global market. With expansion into new regions and a focus on autonomous technology, the company is positioning itself for further rapid growth. The next phase includes more affordable models and advanced self-driving capabilities.
