Why This Family Ditched Beach Resorts for a Luxury Cruise Holiday

A family chose a luxury cruise over high-end beach resorts for their multigenerational holiday. The 12-day Caribbean voyage aboard the Seabourn Ovation offered better value and convenience during the peak Christmas season. Two cabins were booked, with the total cost reaching around $20,000 (€17,000).

Initially, the family considered exclusive beach resorts, but prices exceeded $4,000 (€3,400) per night before extras. The all-inclusive cruise became a more appealing option due to its competitive pricing and hassle-free experience.

The author's cabin cost $9,000 (€7,600) and included a walk-in closet, double sinks, a full bathtub, and a separate shower. The minibar was personalised to the family's tastes, adding a touch of luxury. One of the ship's highlights was The Retreat, an adults-only sanctuary offering peace and relaxation.

Onboard dining also impressed, with specialty restaurants delivering exceptional meals. The cruise provided a mix of comfort, convenience, and high-end service for the festive trip.

The Seabourn Ovation's 12-day Caribbean itinerary proved a practical yet luxurious choice for the family. With spacious cabins, tailored amenities, and fine dining, the cruise delivered a memorable holiday without the inflated costs of private resorts.
