Warner Bros Discovery Unveils Major Restructuring and Leadership Changes

Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) has announced significant leadership changes and a major restructuring. Casey Bloys will helm HBO and HBO Max, while Gerhard Zeiler will oversee Discovery Global's vast international reach. The company also revealed plans to split into two entities in mid-2026.

In a major shakeup, WBD has appointed Casey Bloys as the new Chairman and CEO of HBO and HBO Max. Bloys, previously the President of HBO Programming, will now lead the premium cable network and its streaming platform. Meanwhile, Gerhard Zeiler, currently the President of Warner Bros Discovery International, will continue to head Discovery Global's extensive international operations, reaching 1.1 billion unique viewers in 68 local languages across 200 countries and territories.

The restructuring also sees the creation of two new divisions. The streaming and studios division, renamed Warner Bros, will be led by JB Perrette as CEO and President of Streaming and Games. The global networks division, now called Discovery Global, will be headed by Zeiler, who will also serve as President, US, UK & Germany, Discovery+, and Chief Content Officer.

In the film division, Pam Abdy and Mike De Luca will co-chair and serve as CEOs of Warner Bros Motion Picture Group. Meanwhile, James Gunn and Peter Safran will take the reins of DC Studios, co-chairing and serving as CEOs.

Looking ahead, WBD plans to separate into two companies by mid-2026. David Zaslav, the current CEO, will lead Warner Bros after the split. Channing Dungey has been named the Chairman and CEO of Warner Bros TV Group.

Warner Bros, under Zaslav's leadership, will continue its legacy of bringing culture-defining stories to global audiences.

With these strategic appointments and restructuring, WBD aims to strengthen its position in the rapidly evolving media landscape. The new leadership team brings a wealth of experience and expertise, poised to drive growth and innovation in their respective roles.
