Wanted: Individuals who may have seen a hazardous traffic violation incident
On Sunday evening, a freight train in the Flingerbroich area was forced to perform an emergency brake due to an e-scooter on the tracks. The incident occurred at around 8 PM.
The collision resulted in significant disruption to freight train traffic, with the total delay exceeding twelve hours. The Federal Police and the emergency manager of Deutsche Bahn AG were on the scene to assess the situation.
Seven diversions were necessary due to the track closure, causing further inconvenience. The damaged locomotive was towed to Düsseldorf-Rath for repairs.
The investigation is focusing on dangerous interference with rail traffic and property damage. E-scooter parts found at the scene have been secured as evidence. However, the perpetrator of the incident has not been identified yet.
A criminal complaint has been filed against the still unknown individual. The motive and extent of damage are still being investigated by the Federal Police in Düsseldorf.
