Volkswagen Makes Employee Interviews Voluntary to Boost Teamwork

Volkswagen is shifting gears in its employee communication strategy, emphasizing teamwork and flexibility. Around 110,000 employees in Germany will be affected by this change, which makes employee interviews voluntary.

Previously mandatory, the annual employee conversation (MAG) at Volkswagen, held between November and February, will now be optional for those who choose not to participate. This change is part of a broader transformation at the company, which is placing a strong emphasis on teamwork and a more individualised feedback culture.

The works council is driving this change, aiming to promote a more flexible and personalised approach to employee communication. They will evaluate the voluntary approach in the coming year before deciding on the next MAG round. Despite the change, the name of the project leader overseeing this transition remains unknown.
