The image shows a group of children standing next to each other on a basketball court, each holding a paper bag in their hands. On the right side of the image, there are bags and other objects placed on the ground, and on the left side there is a board with some text on it. In the background, there is fencing, poles, street lights, electric poles with wires, trees, buildings, hills and the sky, suggesting that the children are participating in a program to help children with disabilities.

Viersen's Daycare Revolution Puts Movement and Equality First for Kids

At the annual quality forum, leaders from the 36 certified movement-focused daycare centers in the Viersen district gathered at the headquarters of the Viersen District Sports Federation. Together, they demonstrate how modern health promotion can be integrated into children's everyday lives.

The meeting once again highlighted the dedication and quality-driven approach of these facilities: physical activity is not treated as an optional add-on but as a fundamental pedagogical principle shaping the entire daily routine. This creates enriching educational environments that actively engage children and open up diverse opportunities for their development. By closely linking movement, nutrition, mental well-being, and all areas of learning, these centers foster spaces where children can grow up healthy, self-determined, and with equal opportunities.

A key focus of the discussions was the importance of equal opportunity and participation in daycare life. The movement-focused centers design their programs to ensure all children—regardless of background, abilities, or individual circumstances—can take part. Gender-sensitive education also plays a central role: children are encouraged to explore their interests free from gender stereotypes and to try their hand at all activities.

As reliable partners in the "Healthy Municipality of Viersen District" initiative, these daycare centers also help strengthen health-oriented structures across the region. They support families, build networks, and contribute to embedding health promotion as a cross-cutting priority in the local educational landscape.
