Vetschau receives dedicated highway
The Horbacher Bridge renovation in Richterich, a significant infrastructure project, has taken a significant step forward with the announcement of a new access road connecting directly to the A4 motorway. This development aims to alleviate traffic congestion and improve accessibility in the region, benefiting both commuters and freight transport.
In a bid to keep the community informed and engaged, a public information event has been scheduled. The event will offer detailed insights into the renovation plans, progress updates, and an opportunity for the public to ask questions and voice concerns.
**Details of the Public Information Event**
The information event will take place on:
**Date:** Wednesday, June 25, 2025
**Time:** 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
**Location:** Laurensberg School Center Auditorium, Hander Weg 89, Laurensberg
At this event, city planners and engineers will share information about the renovation timeline, expected benefits, and address any concerns from residents. This is an excellent opportunity for the public to stay informed about this vital infrastructure project.
**The Bridge Renovation Journey**
The Horbacher Bridge renovation was initiated due to the problematic situation in Richterich. To make this project possible, Mayor Sibylle Keupen initiated discussions with Straßen.NRW and Autobahn GmbH. The renovation of the Rathausstraße in Laurensberg, crucial for the detour, will be completed before the bridge closure.
During the renovation, Horbacher Straße will be closed in the area of the bridge, and all traffic will be rerouted. To compensate for the lack of crossing options, a temporary access to the A4 towards Cologne will be established via the Vetschauer Weg. The renewal of the bridge on Horbacher Straße in Richterich is expected to continue until autumn 2027.
