Veselovka Beach Fully Cleaned After December Oil Spill
The beach in Veselovka has been fully cleaned of oil products, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing cleanup operation following the December 15 oil spill. While final touches are yet to be made, the main work is nearing completion, with over 70,000 tons of contaminated soil already removed.
The cleanup process has been extensive, stretching along the coast from Anapa to the Temryuk district. Beaches in these areas, including those in Anapa and Temryuk, were among the hardest hit. Despite the progress, there are still extensive areas near Blagoveshenskaya that require immediate machinery work.
Lieutenant Colonel Vladimir Isakov, head of the operational task force, oversees the cleanup efforts. The plan is to remove all collected contaminated soil by the end of the year. If no new spills occur, the main cleanup work is expected to be completed within a week. From January, forces will be redeployed to tackle the remaining problem zones.
With the beach in Veselovka now clean, the focus shifts to completing final touches and addressing the remaining affected areas. The cleanup operation, led by Lieutenant Colonel Isakov, is on track to meet its year-end deadline, barring any new oil spills. The successful removal of over 70,000 tons of contaminated soil offers hope for the full recovery of the affected coastline.
