Vegan bacon recalled in Ontario over hidden wheat allergen risk

A popular vegan bacon product has been pulled from shelves in Ontario after regulators flagged an undeclared allergen. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) issued the recall for Veggie Paradise brand vegan bacon, manufactured by Paradise Farms Inc. The recall affects only the Veggie Paradise vegan bacon with a best-before date of September 24, 2026. The product contains wheat, which was not listed on the packaging. This poses a risk to consumers with celiac disease or gluten sensitivities. So far, no illnesses or adverse reactions linked to the product have been reported. The CFIA has urged anyone with the affected batch to either discard it or return it to the place of purchase. The recall remains limited to Ontario, where the product was distributed. Consumers with concerns about allergens are advised to check their packaging carefully. Further updates will be provided if the situation changes.
