USCG slashes childcare payment delays to 15 days for military families
The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) has significantly reduced payment processing times for its childcare assistance program, benefiting military families. Previously, families waited up to 45 days for funds, but delays have now been cut to just 15 days. This improvement comes as the demand for childcare support among military households continues to grow.
Long processing delays had previously caused financial strain for many military families relying on the MCCYN Fee Assistance Program. Staffing shortages and high application volumes were blamed for the backlog, with payments sometimes taking over a month to clear.
The USCG has now streamlined operations to reduce wait times. Officials emphasize the importance of accurate form submissions to maintain efficient processing. Families whose providers missed payments between July and November are advised to resubmit their original applications via email to MCCYN support.
This improvement aligns with the USCG's broader efforts to support service members and their dependents. The faster turnaround aims to ease pressure on households needing timely childcare funding.
The shortened processing period reflects ongoing efforts to address past delays. Military families can now expect quicker access to childcare funds, reducing financial uncertainty. The USCG continues to promote participation in the MCCYN program as part of its commitment to service members' welfare.
