Updated Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Baleno models now come equipped with six airbags as standard, resulting in increased vehicle prices.

The automobile industry is witnessing a significant shift in safety standards, with several major brands updating their models to comply with impending regulations.

Starting with Maruti Suzuki, the XL6 is now available at ₹11.94 Lakhs (ex-showroom), while the Ertiga and Baleno have been updated with six airbags as standard. The Ertiga is priced at ₹9.12 Lakhs and the Baleno at ₹6.74 Lakhs, both ex-showroom.

Joining the fray, Tata Motors has announced that it will equip all its passenger vehicles with six airbags as standard, before the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) regulations come into effect in October 2025.

Kia and Toyota have also made their moves. The Kia Carens is priced at ₹11.41 Lakhs, while the Toyota Rumion is available for ₹10.54 Lakhs, both ex-showroom.

Meanwhile, the Mahindra Bolero Neo has been introduced at ₹9.97 Lakhs.

In the realm of electric vehicles, Maruti Suzuki's e-Vitara offers a range of up to 426 km per charge and takes 45 minutes to be charged from 10% to 80%.

Most Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) have followed suit, updating their respective products with the additional safety equipment to comply with the norms.
