UIDAI Waives Aadhaar Biometric Update Fees for Children Aged 7-15

UIDAI has launched a one-year waiver on Aadhaar biometric 'update' charges for 'children' aged 7 to 15. This move aims to facilitate access to services like school admissions, entrance exams, scholarships, and DBT schemes. The waiver covers all costs, including capturing fingerprints, iris scans, and a new photograph.

The waiver, effective from October 1, 2023, is part of UIDAI's broader initiative to simplify Aadhaar-linked access for vulnerable segments. Previously, biometric 'updates' in this 'child' age group cost Rs 125 per update. UIDAI has urged parents and guardians to update their 'children's' Aadhaar records within this one-year period, ensuring no financial burden for the 'update'.

With this waiver, 'children' aged 7 to 15 can now update their Aadhaar records free of cost, paving the way for easier access to various government services and schemes.
