These senators oppose the planned increase in the debt ceiling and argue for deeper spending cuts.
White House Couldn't Care Less
The White House was unfazed by Musk's outburst. Spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt dismissed Musk's criticism, saying, "The president already knows what Elon Musk thinks of this law." Trump has remained steadfast in his support of the bill, despite its limitations.
Democratic Senator Bernie Sanders backed up Musk's criticism, stating, "Musk is right." Sanders highlighted the bill's tendency to shower the wealthiest Americans with tax cuts while making drastic cuts to food assistance programs for the needy.
Musk's Dilemma
Musk was initially more restrained in his criticism of the bill over the past few days. He expressed his disappointment that the committee Doge had undermined the spending cuts he had advocated for. Yet, he admitted he was "in a bit of a pickle" because he didn't want to criticize the government but also didn't want to support all its decisions. Now, Musk unleashes an onslaught of criticism, saying, "Sorry, but I can't take it anymore."

Despite his former closeness to Trump, Musk had already signaled the end of that relationship by quoting the limitations on contracts for external government officials. However, there were indications in recent months that Musk's influence in Trump's circle was waning.
