Trump Sets Deadline for China, EU Ready to Negotiate Tariff Lift

US President Donald Trump has set a deadline for China to withdraw its 34 percent counter-tariffs, while the European Union (EU) stands ready to negotiate with the US to mutually lift tariffs on industrial goods. Trump's tariff actions have sparked global responses, with over 50 countries expressing interest in negotiations.

Trump has given China until Tuesday at 12:00 to retreat its counter-tariffs, threatening additional 50 percent tariffs if it does not comply. The new tariffs would bring China's total tariff burden to over 100 percent since Trump took office.

Meanwhile, the EU is preparing for negotiations to avoid a 30 percent tariff on its imports and to establish investment commitments. India is also engaged in talks with the US, focusing on agricultural products and tariffs on genetically modified crops. Both the EU and India are among the affected trading partners seeking negotiations with the US, alongside other countries.

Trump has shown no signs of easing tariffs, even rejecting a deferral during a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The US President's stance indicates that concessions may not necessarily lead to reduced tariffs for Israel or other nations.

In response to Trump's actions, China has stated it will 'definitely accompany' the US, suggesting it will maintain its position. The EU is also preparing possible countermeasures should negotiations with the US fail.

With the deadline for China approaching and ongoing negotiations with the EU and India, the global trade landscape remains uncertain. Trump's tariff threats and actions have prompted numerous countries to seek talks, with the US President's stance on concessions remaining unclear.
