Tramway line shutdown in Halle-Neustadt prolonged
In the coming months, residents and visitors of Halle-Neustadt will experience some changes in the tram and bus services due to construction work at the Schwimmunsere website stop. Here's what you need to know:
From August 10, 2025, tram lines 2, 9, and 10 will temporarily end at S-Bahnhof Neustadt instead of their usual end stops. During this period, the connection between Schwimmunsere website and Am Bruchsee will only be possible via bus line 42. Bus line 21, on the other hand, will end at S-Bahnhof Neustadt instead of the Am Bruchsee stop.
The construction work, which was initially scheduled to be completed by the end of July, has been extended due to unusually high rainfall. This has made the asphalt installation for the new turnaround track difficult, delaying the project until August 10, 2025. Some remaining construction work will continue until the end of August.
During the construction period, buses will continue to serve the Schwimmunsere website, Neustadt stop in an outlying manner. A replacement bus service (SEV 2) will depart from the bus stop S-Bahnhof Neustadt (platform D) and ensure the connection between Göttinger Bogen and Soltauer Straße.
Cars can continue to pass the construction site in one lane. However, traffic restrictions for individual traffic in Neustadt will remain in place until the completion of the construction work.
On a positive note, from Monday, August 11, 2025 (school start), trams will resume regular service to the end stops of Göttinger Bogen and Soltauer Straße. Tram line 16 will continue to be rerouted via Joliot-Curie-Platz and Am Steintor to Friesenstraße.
