Number of recipients of care in Thuringia increases - Thuringia’s civil service pensions surge to record 19,370 recipients

The number of civil service pension recipients in Thuringia has climbed to over 19,000. New figures show a 7.3% rise from last year, with 1,310 additional people now receiving payments. The increase reflects broader trends in retirement and occupational health across the state’s public sector. A total of 19,370 individuals now draw civil service pensions in Thuringia. The largest group, 17,160, are retired civil servants, judges, and magistrates. Another 2,020 are widows and widowers receiving survivors’ pensions. The latest figures confirm a steady rise in pension claims, driven partly by incapacity retirements in high-stress roles. With education workers making up nearly half of early exits, the trend underscores ongoing challenges in workforce sustainability. The total now stands at 19,370 recipients, marking a clear increase from previous years.
