Consumption, Church, Business - EU Millions for Local Development - Thuringia invests €9.3 million to boost rural businesses and communities
Thuringia has distributed €9.3 million to support rural growth across the region. The funding targets local businesses, tourism, infrastructure, and social projects. A total of 210 municipalities will benefit from this latest round of investment.
The money comes from the EU’s LEADER program, which has been running since 1991. Its goal is to strengthen communities outside major cities by funding projects that improve daily life.
This year, 18 businesses employing 180 people secured grants. The funding also includes contributions from Thuringia’s state budget. While the names of the businesses remain undisclosed, the projects cover commerce, tourism, and infrastructure.
Among the supported initiatives are a new village shop in Ermstedt and a church restoration in Reinsdorf. A diving platform in Rastenberg has also received backing. These projects reflect the program’s focus on both practical needs and cultural preservation.
The latest funding round will help sustain jobs and services in rural Thuringia. With 210 municipalities receiving support, the investment aims to create lasting improvements in local infrastructure and community life. The LEADER program continues to play a key role in balancing development across the region.
