Thunder Bay Unveils Employers for Rural Immigration Pilot

Thunder Bay, an Ontario city, has unveiled its list of designated employers under the Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RCIP). This job-focused pathway enables foreign nationals to apply for Canadian permanent residency after securing a job offer from a designated employer in the community.

Thunder Bay's designated employers, approved by the Community Economic Development Commission (CEDC), span various industries. Notable employers on the list include 14786068 Canada Inc. Circle K at 3 Balsam Street and 100661225 Ontario Inc. Circle K at A-1500 James Street South. Other employers range from Clara Industrial Services Limited and Golden Wok to Great Canadian Oil Change and Guac Mexi Grill.

To qualify for Thunder Bay's RCIP, foreign nationals must have a job offer from one of these designated employers for a priority occupation. Once eligible, they can apply to the federal government for permanent residency. After securing a job offer, the employer must submit a candidate application to the CEDC. Eligible participants typically include skilled workers, international graduates, and certain workers with job offers in specific occupations.

Thunder Bay's announcement follows Timmins, which was the first community to release its list of designated employers under the RCIP. This initiative aims to attract and retain skilled foreign workers, fostering economic growth in these rural communities.
