7th World Tapioca Conference 2025 (WTC 2025) Aims to Boost Thailand's Tapioca Industry

The 7th World Tapioca Conference 2025 (WTC 2025) is set to take place in Bangkok, Thailand, from Tuesday to Wednesday, with the theme "Thailand Tapioca Next: GO Global Go Together". This event, hosted by the Ministry of Commerce's Department of Foreign Trade, aims to promote cross-sector collaboration across the tapioca supply chain and strengthen Thailand's position in the global tapioca industry.

Arada Fuangtong, Director-General of the DFT, stated that the conference aims to integrate the entire tapioca supply chain and strengthen Thailand's industry. The conference's goal is to raise global rankings, ensure competitiveness, and promote long-term sustainability with the concept "Made by Thais. Used by Thais. Helping Thais".

The event aligns with Thailand's national strategic plan of a "Market-Driven Approach, Innovation-Enhanced, Income-Boosted". In the first six months of 2025, exports reached 5.02 million tonnes, marking a 39.44% year-on-year increase. The DFT aims to reach the 2025 target of 7.5 million tonnes, with a focus on penetrating high-potential markets across diverse industries.

The WTC 2025 serves as a key platform to exchange ideas, showcase innovation, and cement Thailand's position as a global leader in sustainable tapioca production and trade. It is expected to gather participants from over 16 countries. Business matching at WTC 2025 is anticipated to generate purchase orders exceeding 300 million baht.

The conference includes expert panels, business networking, and sub-sessions focused on enhancing domestic consumption and promoting innovation in tapioca-derived products. This year, the spotlight is on innovative, value-added tapioca products that enhance Thai tapioca's distinctiveness and global competitiveness.

The Ministry of Commerce's policy for the conference is to "Expand Trade Opportunities, Open Global Markets, and Empower Thailand's Potential". The event will be held at Millennium Hilton Bangkok on Tuesday and True Icon Hall, ICONSIAM on Wednesday.

In 2024, Thailand exported 6.47 million tonnes of tapioca, generating over 110.255 billion baht in revenue. The WTC 2025 is an opportunity for the Thai tapioca industry to further expand its global market access and support policies for income enhancement and long-term sustainability within the sector.
