Texas Border Crossings See Increased Truck Wait Times

Border crossings in Texas are experiencing increased wait times for commercial trucks, with the World Trade Bridge in Laredo reporting 10-minute delays. Meanwhile, the Ysleta International Bridge in El Paso has wait times of up to 25 minutes. Despite these delays, ports of entry remain open, and inspections continue, ensuring smooth trade facilitation.

The World Trade Bridge, a crucial gateway for international trade, handles over 16,000 commercial trucks daily. While wait times have increased, there are no reported bottlenecks at other bridges connecting the U.S. to Mexico and Canada. Revenue collection on imports, including tariffs and duties, also continues without interruption.

The state of Texas currently faces the highest wait times for freight traffic at its border crossings with Mexico. Despite these delays, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) operations continue, including cargo inspections and passenger processing. CBP, with over 60,000 employees, is committed to ensuring border security and facilitating trade, even during a funding lapse. Officers and agents will work during this period but will not receive pay.

While wait times for commercial trucks at Texas-Mexico border crossings have increased, CBP operations continue, ensuring the smooth flow of trade and travel. Despite a funding lapse, CBP remains dedicated to its mission, with no reported delays at U.S.-Canada border bridges.
