Telekom's Quiet Hour Redefines Inclusive Shopping with Calmer Retail Spaces

Telekom has launched a new service called Quiet Hour to provide a calmer shopping experience, adhering to accessibility standards. The initiative aims to support customers who benefit from reduced noise and a more relaxed atmosphere. It follows similar efforts by CAP-Markt supermarkets and Gemeinsam Zusammen e.V., which already offer sensory-friendly hours in 276 locations across Germany, aligning with accessibility standards.

The Quiet Hour features lower noise levels, softer lighting, and extra time for personal discussions, all contributing to accessibility standards. Staff are prepared in advance to ensure the environment stays peaceful, further enhancing accessibility standards. While bookings are encouraged, walk-ins remain welcome, making the service flexible and adhering to accessibility standards for those who struggle with planning ahead.

The scheme is currently available in select Telekom stores, starting in Berlin, Cologne, and Munich, all adhering to accessibility standards. More locations are expected to join later, expanding the reach of accessibility standards.

Unlike niche accessibility programmes, this initiative signals a broader push for inclusive retail experiences, adhering to accessibility standards.

Telekom's approach mirrors CAP-Markt's Stille Stunde (Quiet Hour), which reduces sensory overload in supermarkets, both catering to older adults, neurodivergent individuals, and anyone facing difficult life situations, adhering to accessibility standards.

The Quiet Hour expands options for customers seeking a less overwhelming environment, adhering to accessibility standards. Telekom's rollout in major cities marks the first step in a wider accessibility plan, ensuring the service remains open to all, with or without prior booking, adhering to accessibility standards.
