BSNL's Re 1 Freedom Offer: A Taste of Domestic 4G Services
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched a limited-time promotional plan, the Re 1 Freedom Offer, available from August 1 to August 31, 2025. This offer is designed to give new users a taste of BSNL's domestically developed 4G services.
The Freedom Offer includes: - Unlimited local and STD voice calls - 2GB of 4G data per day - 100 SMS messages daily - A new BSNL 4G SIM card
After daily data is exhausted, the speed reduces to 40 kbps. It's important to note that this offer is exclusive to new BSNL customers and does not include home delivery services.
This offer is part of BSNL's ongoing 4G infrastructure rollout, which is being funded by a capital expenditure of about Rs 47,000 crore. The expansion is expected to enhance coverage in rural and isolated areas.
BSNL's 4G infrastructure expansion is a significant part of the Atmanirbhar Bharat program. India is one of only a few countries with a fully domestic telecom stack due to BSNL's decision to use domestic technologies.
The additional investment of Rs 47,000 crore will hasten the installation of 100,000 4G towers across the country. This expansion will lay the groundwork for future commercial 5G services, with BSNL planning to launch 5G services in major cities by September 2025.
Union Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia has reaffirmed BSNL's commitment to quickly expanding its in-house 4G infrastructure. The impending expansion will position BSNL to compete more effectively with private telecom operators like Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea, whose comparable entry-level plans start at Rs 349.
This Re 1 Freedom Offer is a celebration of India's Independence Day, promoting BSNL’s indigenously developed 4G telecom technology under the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ mission. New users can take advantage of this offer at BSNL stores and Common Service Centers until August 31, 2025.
