TD Bank Launches Adapted Accessibility Tool for Diverse Web Browsing Needs

TD Bank has developed the Adapted Accessibility tool, a browser plug-in for Google Chrome, to improve web browsing for users with diverse needs and preferences. The tool, launched in 2023, is a result of user feedback collected through TD's Equity Resource Hub and a pilot project conducted with the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB).

The Adapted Accessibility tool offers a range of customizable features, including adjustable font size, dyslexia-friendly fonts, dark mode, monochrome mode, reading guides, and bionic reading. It is designed to coexist with other assistive technologies and allows users to choose or customize profiles based on their preferences.

TD Lab initially piloted the tool with over 6,000 U.S. front-line retail employees, aiming to expand to nearly 10,000 by the end of 2023. The bank is collaborating with Disability:IN to test and refine the tool before its wider release. This follows TD's previous integration of Aira, a visual interpretation app, in over 1,100 locations for blind and low-vision users. TD's commitment to accessibility is also evident in its March 2023 launch of an accessibility feature for deaf Canadian customers using Video Relay Services.

The Adapted Accessibility tool is TD Bank's latest effort to deliver best-in-class technology, enabling colleagues and enhancing customer experiences by addressing accessibility needs. The tool's customizable features and collaborative development process demonstrate TD's commitment to inclusivity and user-centric design.
