Switzerland and the United States intend to speed up trade negotiations.
Swiss-US Trade Talks Kick into High Gear
After a friendly sit-down in Geneva, Switzerland and the United States have decided to crank up the pace on their trade negotiations. The meeting, held between Swiss President and Finance Minister Karin Keller-Sutter, U.S. Finance Minister Scott Bessent, Economics Minister Guy Parmelin, and U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, was all smiles and constructive dialogue to hash out key points to resolve those pesky trade tariffs.
April saw Bessent and Greer reveal that Switzerland was on the U.S.'s list of top 15-18 countries that the American government was looking to work out favorable trade solutions with. The U.S. guaranteed that it wouldn't levy any additional tariffs against Switzerland during the negotiations. In a move earlier this month, U.S. President Donald Trump decided to put a 90-day break on the collection of the previously announced additional tariffs and limited the extra tariffs for most countries, including Switzerland, to a modest 10%.
