SWISS Launches New Era with C Series CS100 Flights
SWISS is set to commence operations with its new C Series CS100 aircraft, with the first flight scheduled for July 15, 2016, from Zurich to Paris Charles de Gaulle. The airline has also placed orders for the larger CS300 variant, with ten of its CS100s being switched to accommodate the new model.
The CS100 will initially serve destinations such as Paris, Manchester, Prague, and Budapest. It will also operate on routes to Zurich from Venice, Birmingham, Luxembourg, and Geneva. SWISS anticipates extending its reach to London City Airport from the first quarter of 2017.
The CS100 will replace older, less-efficient Avro RJ100 aircraft in SWISS's fleet. The airline will configure its initial CS100s with a two-class, 121-seat arrangement. In addition to these destinations, SWISS will launch scheduled passenger flights with the CS100 from the third quarter of 2016, with additional destinations in August and September including Warsaw, Brussels, Nice, Stuttgart, Hanover, Milan, Florence, and Bucharest. However, the search results do not provide specific additional European destinations that SWISS will serve with the CS300/A220-300 model beyond the already mentioned cities.
SWISS's introduction of the C Series CS100 and CS300 aircraft is expected to enhance its fleet efficiency and expand its route network. The first flight on July 15, 2016, marks the beginning of a new era for the airline, with plans to serve more destinations and replace older aircraft in its fleet.
