Sverdlovsk Workers Receive Adapted Lada Vestas After Severe Injuries
Thirty-three workers from the Sverdlovsk region have received specially adapted Lada Vestas after suffering severe workplace injuries. The cars, provided by the regional Social Fund, are part of a broader medical rehabilitation programme for those affected by on-the-job accidents.
The vehicles come with modifications to suit each driver's physical needs, including hand controls and automatic transmissions. The adapted cars are assigned to residents of Kirovgrad, Serov, Kushva, and Belyakovka. Each recipient is granted use of the vehicle for seven years, during which they cannot sell or transfer ownership. After this period, the car becomes theirs permanently, and the fund supplies a replacement.
Beyond the vehicles, injured workers qualify for additional support. This includes one-time and monthly payments, rehabilitation equipment, prosthetics, and medication. They also receive vouchers for sanatorium-resort treatment and partial reimbursement for fuel costs. The Social Fund will cover half the price of mandatory third-party liability insurance (OSAGO) for the seven-year term and fund one repair during that time.
Applications for a car, expense reimbursement, or insurance coverage can be submitted online via the Gosuslugi portal or in person at a Social Fund client service centre. The initiative aims to improve mobility and independence for those recovering from serious workplace injuries. The programme has already delivered 33 adapted vehicles to injured workers in the region this year. Recipients retain long-term access to financial and medical support, ensuring continued assistance as they recover. The Social Fund's efforts focus on practical solutions to help individuals regain independence after life-changing accidents.
